Punchbowl Festival 2013

Hey who’s coming to Punchbowl? Really cool, really small festival held by my friend Annaleis Puddy and her family at their farm in Wiltshire. We’re gonna go play it which I’m looking forward to cos last year was a proper laugh. Tickets are just £20 and you can buy them from here….∞§§¶

Disaster!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

My life is ruined! Had the fucking thing in my bag and dropped it. I was like ahh it’ll be fine, it’s made of metal, turned it on and almost cried. You can fix it for about £40 but i need like heat gun and a pick-axe to pry the screen off. Bloody apple!

Ive just got a dongle to plug an external screen in so Im still writing music, its not the end of the world…get a grip. I might have to get one of those sleeves for it. Make it look shit for safety….on second thoughts, nah.

Tom Flynn’s Birefringence Work

These two images are made from a process called Birefringence, where light is split through a material with non-uniform molecules that is stressed by either stretching or layering. I don’t completely understand it either. Basically these images are made from stretching cling film and magnetising it, and they come out looking like this! Incredible.

They’re made by an artist called Tom Flynn. Tom had an exhibition in The Parlour Showrooms [the pop-up shop below my studio building] last weekend where I met him and we had a chat about “scientific art” which is kind of what this is. He said he fond out about Birefringence at a Science seminar and has been making this kind of work ever since.

I thought these would look amazing as a live projection for SUPERBEAT and asked him if it’s possible to turn these into moving images. Well, he said it’s totally possible and he’s gonna start working on it really soon. So we should be able to see his work in action at an upcoming Milk Bar gig. Really f*cking groovy.
